Hanan

Hanan and her friends were running around
as children always do
Their laughter overturned all sounds
Their spirits were brand new

Their hopscotch game had just begun
Before they heard a blast
Disturbed, they started running away
But one of them didn't run

Hanan, you see, was born unique
Her hearing was impaired
She couldn't wait to play the game
When playin', she's never cared

She threw the rock, and off it rolled
as a second blast befell
The rock of chalk was smashed to dust
…the rest I cannot tell

Hanan did smile one last time
Oh god, she looked so cute.
Some things in life are understood
But those things are minute

The Point

"What's the point?" One might say
Well, the point is blown away
And what's left is a broken calyx
Slowly turning into hay

Make My Day

With a pen and nothing to write on
and less light than the closing-in dawn
With vodka,
dust,
and memories
I wait…
with one song left to play

With a morning, quiet as can be
The horizon, baring the sea
Anew
Without you
I wait…
a patch of wilting clay

With words and nothing more
With a glass and nothing to pore
awake,
alone
,
extinct,
I wait…
For you to make my day

The Window

With one eye closed
I recognized a window

Its Curtains, collapsed
Its frames, unglassed
Its handle...
Forgotten
Like a prey in the woods

With one eye closed
I saw the world's core
Things made sense more
And I decided...
I'll die later
Certainly not today
Maybe
Just maybe...
Like a prey in the woods

With one eye closed
I recognized a window
Through it, I saw nothing
Through it, I saw everything
Through it,
I saw one instant
Only a moment
Like a prey in the woods
