When We Were Kids
When we were kids
Colors were brighter
Honesty was inevitable
And the ground was much easier to reach.
When we were kids
Fire whispered in our ears
Told us to touch its hand
Said that it wouldn't feel too bad.
When we were kids
War was when our next door neighbor poked us with a pen
And then said "let's be friends again,
I have no one to play with."
When we were kids
Our media was Disney toons
Our greed was for Gerber spoons
And we only dreamed when we were sleeping
When we were kids
Things mattered and things made sense.
'cause When we were kids
We hardly had to use any past-tense.
