Grandmother of Paradise
I watched
As the oaks parted with their green peers
As they said goodbye and stood naked,
Shivering,
And proud
I watched the sky's weeping
As the sun got shy
And hid behind a herd of ebony sheep
I watched as its nervous rays broke thru the shallow, flying cottons
And the northern star finally had a chance to sleep
I watched…
And 'til today I'm not sure if it's the sound of it
The gleam of it
Or a combination of both, that soothes my sore eyes
All I know is that autumn,
Dear winter
Is the great, great, grandmother of what we call paradise.
As the oaks parted with their green peers
As they said goodbye and stood naked,
Shivering,
And proud
I watched the sky's weeping
As the sun got shy
And hid behind a herd of ebony sheep
I watched as its nervous rays broke thru the shallow, flying cottons
And the northern star finally had a chance to sleep
I watched…
And 'til today I'm not sure if it's the sound of it
The gleam of it
Or a combination of both, that soothes my sore eyes
All I know is that autumn,
Dear winter
Is the great, great, grandmother of what we call paradise.
