The Beanstalk & Jack

I once stood tall
Don’t you remember?
As tall as your aspirations and demands
You climbed up and down
My back
You climbed it, with ease
Undoubted
To the heavenly-castle and back

Oh Jack
Don’t you remember?
After a couple of golden eggs
You thanked the skies
And were so glad
That I hadn’t any legs

That’s painful, Jack
No, not the reeking of my wounds
Not your axe slicing through my veins
But your face
Withdrawn
Emotionless
As if I only existed so you could chop me down

I wasn’t a friend, Jack
Not at all
I was merely a means to your end.
So go ahead
Squelch my intestines
Faster Jack
Detach yourself from your roots
Detach me from mine
Because...my neck.. dear Jack.. Is humbly yours.

That's a nice angle on the story of jack and the beanstalk. Very sad..
